Where can I view public records for free?

Every site that you go to wants money. If they are public records for everyone to view, how can they charge for them. I would like to know if anyone has found a site that is actually free.Where can I view public records for free?
The best place to find the information that you are looking for, is at the County Clerk's Office, in the jurisdiction where you need they records. That way you can get copies, if you find what you need.

Some of these sites on the Internet, have limited information available, that is the only trouble with them.

Some County Clerk's Offices are online, and more are sure to follow, however, I prefer going to the Courthouse, you can see the whole report and get what you need of it.
Normally, your county comptrollers site.. so go to your local government online. Mnay states have privacy acts that prevent online viewing, however, you can request records for pretty cheap.Where can I view public records for free?
By public, it means that anyone from the public can obtain the information. It does not state it will be free! Depending on the information that you want, you can go to the police department, court, etc.

To answer your questions, your not going to find a 'free' site.Where can I view public records for free?
The courthouse. If you're looking for actual court cases, you'll need either the docket number or the person's full name. If you want police records, you'll need the name or address of the subject and it generally costs five bucks. You will rarely find a source online for free.
you pay them for doing the legwork for you. Why would anyone work for you for free?

You are free to check every city, county and state site as you please. Some provide it, some d'ont.
