How do you find public records for Los Angeles County?

I'm trying to access the public records for Los Angeles County, California. I know addresses and house sales are all public information, but I'm not sure where to find them. I'm used to them being in 1 downtown location, but I was wondering where these celebrity maps, paparazzi sites and the like get all of the celebrity addresses from? I'm assuming they are pulling from something online, which would be much more convenient for me, as well. I highly doubt they have someone going to a building somewhere and physically going through records.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks! How do you find public records for Los Angeles County?
Try again. In California there is still some privacy accorded. The Press may actually has a data base that is not available to the public. The privacy laws were enacted to protect people from stalkers after several Hollywood personalities were stocked and some attacked/murdered, by their adoring fans. How do the paparazzi get info, from people and sometimes those people have worked for the personality. They also talk to each other. There use to be street vendors in Hollywood that sold maps of the homes of the stars, they may still be available.

Home sales are a matter of deeds, etc.. which are legally at the county recorder's office. No, that isn't online.. so don't assume that is where they get it. When you are talking about "celebrity watchers", the key thing is networking.. this is what they do for a living (and are willing to pay for, as well). Among other things.. you know a celebrity by their public name, which is not the legal name in all cases. There are also ways in which a property can be registered under something such as an attorney's name, or other alternatives.

I am not sure if your goal is simply finding public records (which is a big generalization) or celebrity locations? Births/deaths/ marriages are what we normally work with, all of which are different animals.

I'd say your assumption of them being online is not accurate.
