Property is never bankrupt, it's a person who is. If you want public records for free, go to the records hall for that county and do the research there. How to I obtain public records on a bankrupt property near my home?
It depends on what information you are looking for. If you are looking for list of foreclosed properties then ask at the courthouse how you would go about it. Just because it is public information doesn't always mean you can get it easily on the internet. Most lenders will place the foreclosures with an agency to get them sold. That is why you are being asked to pay a fee to obtain a list. The list may or may not be up to date. Internet sites like Realtor.com have a search to local foreclosures. That will simply take you to the realtor who has been given the listing.
