You'd be surprised how many states maintained birth, marriage and death records during the time your grandparents were born, married and died. So first contact the counties in which they were born for birth records and the counties they were married in for marriage license/certificate. If records aren't available at the county level, check with vital records at the state level. Be prepared to pay for the records.
If you get really going in genealogy I suggest that you become a member of ancestry.com. It is the best website going for genealogists. I've taken several branches of my family back to 1790 on that website alone.Where can i find public records from a while ago?
