Go to the local recorder's office where the property is located. They should have listings of all foreclosures, as it is a matter of public record. This website also provides a comprehensive list of foreclosure proceedings, state-by-state: http://www.taxsalewealth.com. It details how to buy these types of properties from the local government.

Are there any free websites that list public records of real estate transactions?

I'm going to be selling my house and I want to find out how much my neighbor recently sold their house for because their house is pretty much the same as ours, just to give us an idea how much we can possibly expect when we sell ours. I can find websites that will provide information for a fee. Anyone know of free websites? Are there any free websites that list public records of real estate transactions?
I believe you can get that info from your county website. Real Estate purchases are public record. If your county doesn't publish the info on a website you can go to the county courthouse and get this info...all for free.
if your county auditor has a real estate tax website...Are there any free websites that list public records of real estate transactions?

In my state the cities and villages provide that information, but only in larger communities. I have noticed that some medium size towns and villages are beginning to provide the information. I go on the state website, which has a list of cities townships and villages. Then I go to the assessors department in that community.
You could look for the deed in the county records or the tax record at the county appraisers office. These site should be on line. Look up the record under the neighbors name. It does take a while for the records to get updated after a sale.

If you are going to base your price on your neighbors sale you are making a big mistake. You should be comparing multiple sales. Try zillow.com to give you some idea of comparable properties in your area.

I really suggest that you call a Real Estate Agent who will give you pricing for free or pay for an appraisal about $300.

You will get a collection of information from several websites, including FB, electoral rolls, online directories, articles written, many things about work done, newspaper reports, awards etc. It saves time in looking individually at all the different websites...it is also worth looking at your own college website as if he/she has asked it must be available fairly easilyHow would I go about finding what a person's middle name is through public records?
Google his name in quotes. If he is a professor, he must be published some where. So search for scholarly journals or university websites. Check for a facebook or myspace account. Check for an arrest record. Check for marriage records online. How would I go about finding what a person's middle name is through public records?
Try vital search.com the fee is only about $15.00, I think. There is no place that I am aware of to find information on living people that is not fee based, primarily because of the privacy laws.

How do I find a criminal record on someone? Aren't these public records that are available?

A relative is in prison right now. It's a Missouri state facility, not federal, also a minimum security level--or less--I don't remember. He or she is telling us what the charges are, but we'd like to confirm on our own because this person has lied to us so much in the past. Any help in finding this would be so appreciated. How do I find a criminal record on someone? Aren't these public records that are available?
