Are there any free websites that list public records of real estate transactions?

I'm going to be selling my house and I want to find out how much my neighbor recently sold their house for because their house is pretty much the same as ours, just to give us an idea how much we can possibly expect when we sell ours. I can find websites that will provide information for a fee. Anyone know of free websites? Are there any free websites that list public records of real estate transactions?
I believe you can get that info from your county website. Real Estate purchases are public record. If your county doesn't publish the info on a website you can go to the county courthouse and get this info...all for free.
if your county auditor has a real estate tax website...Are there any free websites that list public records of real estate transactions?
Try your local county website, a lot of them have property records online. You can use these to view mortgage, purchase prices, taxes....Are there any free websites that list public records of real estate transactions?

In my state the cities and villages provide that information, but only in larger communities. I have noticed that some medium size towns and villages are beginning to provide the information. I go on the state website, which has a list of cities townships and villages. Then I go to the assessors department in that community.
You could look for the deed in the county records or the tax record at the county appraisers office. These site should be on line. Look up the record under the neighbors name. It does take a while for the records to get updated after a sale.

If you are going to base your price on your neighbors sale you are making a big mistake. You should be comparing multiple sales. Try zillow.com to give you some idea of comparable properties in your area.

I really suggest that you call a Real Estate Agent who will give you pricing for free or pay for an appraisal about $300.
