How do I find property demensions of my land without measuring it. Are there public records of this?

I have a lot approx. 1/4 acre and would like to start working on the hardscaping. I need to know the dimensions before I make any major decisions, such as fencing choices and such. I thought there would be a web site that would have that information. Any help would be greatly appreiciated.How do I find property demensions of my land without measuring it. Look for your town/city/village website. You can do this by typing in your towns name, state. Once you get to that site, you should be able to look for a link to your address and yard dimensions. Apparently you have access to the internet, go to your county's GIS and put in your address and pull it up, should give you copy of deed and all info on the property. Your county has a plat of your property in its records someplace. If you have a description, probably in your closing documents, they can find it and make you a copy.
yea there should be public record that you can even find online. if you live in newyork its the department of buildings.

If you live elsewhere call your local government/town hall
Call the village or city hall and ask for a copy of the last Plat of Survey.. that will give you all you need. Good Luck!
how is a record going to help you locate the property line? YOU NEED TO hire a surveyor to properly locate these....this is the ONLY legal way to do this
Your Tax Dept. has a map of your land and your neighbors, and the County Clerks office has your survey, also known as a plat. While there, you might as well get a copy of the deed.

it is public record, just call the county, free!
