How can the media use names to promote profit by public records,?

How can a media legally use the name of someone to increase their viewers/readers for profit, by using a person's name without their permission, even though the records are public ?

example: a person is accused of doing something wrong, the police arrest them, the media makes a big story out of it using the person's name????

done without the person's permission (use of their name) records are public since they were arrested??????

any answers ?????How can the media use names to promote profit by public records,?
You have answered your own question, they can do it because the records are public.

However having said that, they destroy the lives of people who are later acquitted, or otherwise cleared of the charges against them, and bury that information somewhere in section three.

It is just wrong, and irresponsible. How can the media use names to promote profit by public records,?
tIf a crime is committed and a person charged with doing it he or she is "alleged" to have done it. The name is public record Newspapers not only have the right but also the responsibility to report ALL the news, including names. Newspapers do not convict or acquit anyone. That is the duty of a jury.
