Public records?

Is a statement (regarding a criminal offense) given to the police public records? Can it be used in court if it's related to a custody issue?Public records?
If the statement you gave to police is included in the incident report. Incident reports are public information. Obtain a copy of the report from your local police department. Ask your attorney if it is wise to use it as evidence in court.Public records?
Statements must be substantiated or proven true. "Hear say", is not admissible. Do not base your case on this or you will be opening a "can of worms". In a custody hearing you want "Documented Facts", or you will look like the "Bad guy", not the responsible parent looking out for the best interest of the children, do not take the low road.
