Where can you find true and free public records?

Every site you go on wants money this is something that I should be able to look up and get for free.

Just because they are Public Records, does not mean they are required to be put on the internet. You must go to the agency holding the records and ask to view them. If you want copies, you will need to pay for them. Some records are for viewing only, and copies cannot be made.Where can you find true and free public records?
If you find out.....please let me know. I've had the same problems.

'Public records' are FREE but to get to them costs $$$.....something's just not right with that...
