Where is a site that allows me to search public records for free?

I recall seeing commercials on TV about being able to access public records online for free (in the commercial the women was researching babysitters and found out that one of them had a DUI) but I've only found sites that charge you before you have access to any information.

I'm from Illinois, is there any sites out there that let you access public records/police reports/etc. for free?Where is a site that allows me to search public records for free?
For free, I would recommend searching public records; http://www.crimcheck.com has an extensive public records database that you can search for free. Good luck! Where is a site that allows me to search public records for free?
Try http://publicrecords.onlinesearches.com/ The site has listings of public record sources all over the US and is organized by state and county and by type of public record. For court records try http://www.courtreference.com/ Depending on the county involved, there may be access to DUI cases, see http://www.courtreference.com/Illinois-Court-Search-Records.htm
